NEW! National Day Without Stigma 2010 on meetup.com
We're trying something new this year. We've heard from you that you want to know what great ideas and events other chapters are doing for NDWS and where it's happening in case collaboration is possible, so this year we're using meetup.com! Please follow these steps to register your chapter's event and check out what other chapters will be doing for NDWS this year.
Download the pdf of these directions
Registering your chapter's event on meetup.com
- Go to www.meetup.com/everywhere/national-day-without-stigma
- Click on the red box in the upper-left hand corner that says "Schedule a meetup about National Day Without Stigma 2010"
- Sign-in using your Facebook account or create a log-in with meetup.com
- Enter as many details as you know about your NDWS event, including what time and where it will be held.
- Special note: Under 'Venue Name', enter the name of your school. In the "Notes for Attendees" box describe what programming you intend to plan for NDWS 2010. If your chapter isn't sure what they intend to plan yet, don't worry! You can always come back and fill this part in later.
- Click 'Schedule It' to generate your chapter's event.
- At the top of the next page, it may read "This meetup needs an organizer". If you'll be the one planning this event, select "Click to learn more" and follow the steps.
Tips for making the most of NDWS on meetup.com
You can use this new tool to connect with other chapters and recruit participants for your event:
- Browse through the list of “meetups” that have been scheduled so far for NDWS and read about what other chapters are planning. You may pick up some great ideas that you can use on your campus!
- Post comments on other chapter’s “meetups” to send notes of encouragement, offer suggestions, or ask questions to learn more about what they are planning.
- Once your chapter’s planning for NDWS is further along, don’t forget to update your event on meetup.com so that other chapters can see what you’re doing and can learn and get ideas from your chapter as well.
- If there are chapters near you, it may be possible to meet up in person or attend each others events if they fall at different times.
- Check the site often to see new events that chapters have registered!
- You can also use meetup.com to send out to potential participants at your school. Include the link for your individual meetup on all promotional items inlucding flyers and e-mails. Post the link on your chapter’s Facebook page and/or Twitter feed and encourage people to click “I’m Interested!” so you know about how many people to expect and can see how well your marketing and outreach is going (i.e. – how many people have heard about your chapter’s NDWS event and are interested in attending).
Don't hesitate to contact Sara, our Program Director, if you have any
questions or concerns about your chapter's NDWS programming at sara@activeminds.org
Happy planning and have a great National Day Without Stigma!
