mental health by featuring young people who have dealt with these issues and
who can encourage others to recognize and seek help for their emotional

presentations use appropriate humor and are extremely accessible, interactive,
cool, and inspiring.
Our Commitment to You- We want to partner with you to fight stigma, nurture the
mental health of all people, and decrease the risk of suicide. Our speakers are
revered for being affordable, accessible, and a joy to work with.
" I am thrilled to be leaving The Heard in such capable hands. While
I will not be speaking past early 2010, I have trained and cultivated
all of these speakers so that this important message will live on!"

" One person really can make a difference. I was ready to take action!"
Aaron Thompson from Active Minds at Oregon State University says:
"Becoming an advocate for mental health has been one of the
most rewarding and challenge achievements in my life. I decided the best way to make my voice heard was to run for
vice president of the Oregon
State University
chapter of Active Minds. It has not been easy fighting to reduce the stigma involved
with mental health. I am a member of the
Army ROTC on campus and I can tell you first hand that many men simply think
that talking about your problems is a joke.
I am a man and
I feel no shame in talking to people about my feelings and emotions. I want to live in a society that considers me
normal."
