Celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month

“What is Community Care (and Why Does It Matter)?”

“Self-care is critical to maintaining your mental health — but it’s also true that we can’t go through life alone, keeping our struggles and worries internally. We need to prioritize community care at the same level we do self-care, but that won’t happen until we are all clear on what community care is, why it matters, and how we can practice it in our daily lives. “

In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, Active Minds student leaders Emma and Nathan discuss the importance of community care and how you support those around you utilizing Active Minds programming. Learn more about how you can start conversations, reduce stigma, and create safe spaces for those in your community at the link below.

We know from Active Minds’ mental health survey that 74% of high school students report having experienced stress or anxiety as a result of COVID-19. So, we wanted to reach out to them directly to learn more. We invite you to watch this short video by students, for students. Then share their message far and wide: it is okay to not be okay.
