Rite Aid Healthy Futures to fund resource hub, digital content series, expansion of Active Minds chapters

WASHINGTON – Active Minds announced today that it has received a $200,000 grant from Rite Aid Healthy Futures. The funding will be used to develop Active Minds’ Your Voice is Your Power resource hub and expand the organization’s peer-to-peer model to 15 high schools, including launching student-led high school chapters in Detroit, Oakland, and Los Angeles communities.

The Your Voice is Your Power resource hub will include a digital content series and comprehensive resources to equip K-12 youth with the skills and tools to grow as mental health advocates and leaders in their school communities. Active Minds’ expansion and reach will provide vital mental health resources to even more young people, catalyzing a new generation of mental health advocates and community leaders.

“In this youth mental health crisis, every student needs easy access to digital content and resources that can help them care for their mental health,” said Alison Malmon, founder and executive director of Active Minds. “With this investment from Healthy Futures, we can expand our reach and provide vital mental health resources to even more young people passionate about creating safe spaces for themselves and their peers.”

For over 20 years, Active Minds has worked to empower and mobilize a network of youth mental health advocates to change the national conversation around mental health. Funding from Healthy Futures will further Active Minds’ 1,000 in 1,000 commitment, which aims to bring Active Minds’ curriculum to 1,000 new schools in 1,000 days and empower young people nationwide to change the conversation around mental health and help-seeking.

“Mental health represents a public health crisis and social justice issue for this generation. Our collective response will be a defining moment for our nation and our children,” said Matt DeCamara, executive director of Rite Aid Healthy Futures. “Connecting kids of all backgrounds with relevant mental health care resources is not just essential, it’s lifesaving. By working with Active Minds, we can ensure kids everywhere have healthier tomorrows.”

Active Minds’ commitment to empowering and mobilizing a network of youth mental health advocates will help address the worsening youth mental health crisis, reaching young people nationwide and equipping them with the skills and tools to advocate for comprehensive mental health resources in their communities.
