Active Minds Partners with Tau Delta Phi Fraternity As Their National Philanthropy

Washington, DC, October 1, 2013— Active Minds is pleased to announce that it has been selected by Tau Delta Phi Fraternity as their National Philanthropy. Tau Delta Phi is a social fraternity that is committed to developing leaders of tomorrow with character and reputation that earn respect and admiration. The partnership with Active Minds is an example of Tau Delta Phi’s spirit of fraternalism, which embraces all students without accepting societal stigmas as a valid reason for differentiation.

The partnership will support Active Minds’ mission to empower students to speak openly about mental health in order to educate others and encourage help seeking. The Fraternity intends to contribute on both the national and local levels to Active Minds. Through activities crafted by Active Minds, the men of the Fraternity will have volunteer and fundraising opportunities that match with Tau Delta Phi’s ideals and expectations of its members.

“When Tau Delta Phi’s Grand Chapter made the decision to pursue a philanthropic relationship with Active Minds, I was very excited,” said Shawn Dowiak, Executive Director of Tau Delta Phi Fraternity, Inc. “Active Minds empowers students to change the attitudes about mental health on their campus, and our Fraternity has consistently been in favor of changing people’s traditional attitudes of who should or should not be included as valuable participants of the campus community.”

“Active Minds is pleased to have the support of a national Fraternity to bring more awareness and attention to student mental health,” says Active Minds Founder and Executive Director, Alison Malmon. “Our hope is that this partnership will help shed a light on these issues that affect every family in this country.”
