Organizations join together to promote kindness and bravery
May 12, 2014 – (Washington, D.C.) – Active Minds is pleased to participate in Born Brave events across the U.S. this summer, hosted by Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation (BTWF). Starting on May 12 at Verizon Center in Washington, DC, and continuing at stops in Minnesota, Washington, Wisconsin, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, Illinois, California and Arizona, the organizations will come together to increase awareness of issues facing today’s youth, and to promote mental and physical health within the community. Active Minds and BTWF share a common vision to inspire individuality and empowerment in youth locally and beyond.
BTWF serves youth worldwide, and strives to equip them with the safety, skills and opportunities they need to be their kindest, bravest selves. BTWF’s Born Brave Tour will connect Active Minds with a diverse youth community to promote discussions on health, bravery, and community.
“BTWF has an unparalleled ability to bring industry leaders together with local and national organizations in effective partnerships” said Alison Malmon, Executive Director and Founder of Active Minds. “Their efforts serve as an example for organizations like ours, and we couldn’t be more excited to work together.”
“Born This Way is thrilled to be partnering with Active Minds,” said Cynthia Germanotta, the Foundation’s President and Co-Founder, and Gaga’s mother. “Today’s youth are under immense pressure on a day-to-day basis, and Active Minds has a proven track record of civic engagement and empowerment on college campuses across the country. My daughter has reached so many through her music – we are excited to be working with Active Minds to continue her promotion of kindness and bravery.”
