A Statement From Active Minds

Active Minds
Active Minds

An emotionally healthy world is not possible without a just world.

At Active Minds, we believe this to our core. It is the backbone of our programs, our policies, and our partnerships, including those with our Ambassadors.

Recently it came to light that one of our Ambassadors, Taylor Nolan, posted hurtful, racist, and harmful content on her social media channels years ago.

Words have impact. They can negatively shape conversations, encourage others to act in unjust ways, and deeply affect mental health and wellbeing. Understanding the damage that these posts originally caused and the damage that the resurfacing of these past statements is bringing to members of the communities insulted or not, we will be removing Taylor from our Ambassador program.

We stand with the many communities who are hurting from these posts, including LGBTQ+, Asian, BIPOC, people of varying body types, rape and sexual assault victims, and other communities.

We are all on a journey, and part of our journey is reckoning with past mistakes and missteps. We must fully take responsibility for our actions and own them without making excuses. As an organization that values growth and improvement in order to achieve a supportive mental health culture, we hope Taylor continues that journey.

If you were impacted by reading Taylor’s words, you do not need to process your thoughts alone. There is help. If you are struggling for any reason, please contact the Crisis Text Line by texting “BRAVE” to 741-741, or call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
