Seven minority-serving colleges will launch brand new Active Minds chapters next semester thanks to Active Minds’ expanded support.
The following institutions were selected through an application process to receive outreach materials and services to help establish student-led chapters that provide mental health awareness and education on campus:
- Fisk University (TN)
- Northern New Mexico College
- Rutgers University, Newark (NJ)
- Savannah State University (GA)
- Texas A&M International University
- University of Nevada, Las Vegas
- Whittier College (CA)
The group joins 111 minority-serving institutions that already have an Active Minds chapter, and includes historically black colleges and universities and Hispanic-serving institutions committed to serving minority students who may experience greater stigma and barriers to help-seeking. Active Minds, with its mission to change the conversation about mental health for everyone, is launching this initiative as part of a three-year project generously supported by ECMC.
